One of my favorite things about the Cinque Terre was that there were cats everywhere! They looked so happy -- basking in the sun, prowling around the streets, lying on rooftops, and drinking out of plastic bowls of water that have been put out for them.
Some cats spent their time sniffing and exploring.
Others seemed to enjoy people watching.
Some cats liked to hang out by the docks and inside of small fishing boats.
If I were a cat, I would love to live in the Cinque Terre. They are respected and cared for by the locals, and are welcome throughout most of the town.
If you are not a cat person, you shouldn't worry. They won't have any interest in you. If you do feel like interacting with them, you might find them to be pretty standoffish, but they probably won't scratch or hiss. They also seemed to be fairly clean and healthy.
Have you ever visited a town that had wild animals roaming about?
